Typographic scherenschnitte

Last week I printed my apron out onto canvas and hand cut the entire piece out. I touched up areas where the ink pulled up with paint. Next I tacked the piece to tulle in order for it to have more structural integrity while hanging vertically. Last night I sewed the dress that will go behind the apron. I am really happy with how the piece came out and feel that this project will grow to become my thesis. Giving typography a voice and connecting the words of my family to my design has been a wonderful journey.

I installed it on Friday (4/29) at The Pennsylvania German Heritage Center. It was open for viewing on Friday from 1-5 and Saturday from 12-4.
